Michelle Pagani

I read the non-fiction story, "Getting Out Alive" by Michelle Pagani.

This non-fiction story is a discussion about a person who woke up late for school and the consequences of it.  This caught my attention due to the fact that it gives the character a time limit to get out to the drive-way.  This is familiar to me because when my friends come to pick me they are always putting a time limit on me.  The constantly get frustrated with me for being late.  I liked this story because I was able to relate to it.

Raymond Craver

I read "Little Things" by Raymond Craver.

This short story was very interesting.  The author used imagery to express the way he felt, and to detect what was happening in the story.  His visual imagery helped me feel as if I was right there watching the scene happen.

I really appreciate the amount of literary terms used in this story.

Gabriel Garcia Marquez Photo

The story I picked is called The Sea of Lost Time from the Collected Stories by Gabriel Garcia Marquez.  My picture conveys the theme of the sea and water.  This picture is of a creek outside my apartment complex.

Song is Poetry

Foster The People, "I Would Do Anything For You," is poetry.  Throughout the song they symbolize the love and compassion they are surrendering towards another person.  They also use a metaphor, "...and I'll listen, open up my heart..." This particular portion of the song caught my attention because they express how they would open up their heart; when literally they are unable to cut their hearts open.  This melody continues to portray the affection they are submitting towards another person.

I Would Do Anything For You

Never want to stand upon myself
Never want to get in the way… I said it
I don't know what the plan is,
But you can share with me.
'Cause I'll be listening here to everything you say
I won't turn away
and I'll listen, open up my heart
and I must say that I love you

Ooooh la love, I've fallen in love
and it's better this time than ever before
Ooooh la love, I've fallen in love
and it's better this time than I've ever known

Every day is a battle I face
Strange life I live, but it's what you've decided
I give it all into your hands
Do what you will with me
And I'll, I'll smile when you speak
Remember those times I was hoping for something?
And shaking my head from all that I have done

But you never left me

Ooooh la love, I've fallen in love
and it's better this time than ever before
Ooooh la love, I've fallen in love
and it's better this time than I've ever known

Ooooh la love, I've fallen in love
and it's better this time than ever before
Ooooh la love, I've fallen in love
and it's better this time than I've ever known

Give it up for you
I would give it up for you
I'd give it up for you
I'd do anything for you

Ooooh la love, I've fallen in love
and it's better this time than ever before
Ooooh la love, I've fallen in love
and it's better this time than I've ever known

Ooooh la love, I've fallen in love
and it's better this time than ever before
Ooooh la love, I've fallen in love
and it's better this time than I've ever known

D.H. Lawrance

The poem, The Enkindled Spring stood out to me, because of the different stanzas it had.

It was easy to follow. It also expressed the way the character in the poem feels about the Spring.  I really enjoyed this poem.

Pablo Neruda

I chose the poem, Ode to Clothes.

I enjoyed this poem because one, I really like clothes.  Also this poem is really easy to see what the author is visualizing in his mind while writing the poem.

Robert Forst

In Neglect, is a very descriptive poem.

I chose this poem because it describes every idea in depth and gives me very precise visual imagery.  I really enjoyed this poem, it was easy to have a sense of what exactly the author was writing about.
